NOISE IS DRIVING ME NUTS
Ok, so my 5G lude is making a noise, and it is driving me nuts. Every time the front left wheel goes around, it makes this scraping metal on metal screech\scratch noise. It is not a warped rotor, because if it were, it would stop when I hit the brakes, which it does not. It is a constant noise with the motion of the wheel. ( the faster I go, the faster the noise) So, my next guess was wheel bearing, but I tried to wiggle the wheel, and there is no play. Then I thought it was my brake dust shield, and I still belive it is because one day the noise was really loud, and i bent it a little, and the noise was less noticeable. So, I take my wheel off and brake rotor and on the dust shield there is the tiniest little scratch that looked like fresh metal (no rust) I hit the area with a screwdriver and hammer and bent it away from where the back of the rotor would be. Then I bent the **** out of the rest of the dust shield as far back as possible. Problem is, it still makes noise, and you can't hear the noise if you just spin the hub while the car is jacked up. It only happens with the wheel on and on the ground while moving. I am really getting tired of taking the wheel off and trying to fix this, and I feel like when I drive next to somebody they are thinking that my car is a POS because of this noise, and it of course it not a POS. If anybody has any ideas please help. I would just take the dust shield off, but it looks lide you have to take the whole hub apart to get to the screws. HELP!
bump, same thing is happening to me.
sounds like this: cheh cheh cheh, like metal rubbing on metal.
let me know if you figured it out. i think it might be my pad or rotor.

just a shot in ther dark but one of my lower ball joints dried out and was making noise over every bump and blah blah and was real loud other drivers looking at me like "theres another POS" and my car sqeaked down the road...lol
It had no play so I just poked a small hole in the rubber boot and squirted some grease in there and has been good now for like 4 months
Not sure if yours is the same noise but ya never know, GL

try just taking the dust shield off (idk if that's possible, but if it is, do it.) run it down the street w/o the d.s., if u dont hear n e thing thats ur problem.
im almost certain its not the dust shield, last time i looked at it, it was no where near anything that could cause it to rub. i know its not the bearing, or tie rods, or ball joints. ive had them all recently replaced or know what they sound like when they go bad.
when it gets nicer out, ill get to a buddies and take the wheel off and inspect further. for the time being i can deal with the noise.
if it was a warped rotor wouldn't the sound go away when brake is applied? i know that my rotors have a warped spot, but the sound doesn't go away when i brake.

I'm not sure. It doesn't seem to make a difference, although it's hard to tell, its been damp/wet almost every day so far this season here in Boston. Why do you ask?
