Default turbo kits and block shaving

I've read a few topics when people put in a drag kti they have to shave 1/2-3/4 of an inch off the block, is this just with hybrids or do you have to shave the engine with all of the drag kits even though its made for the car? do you have to shave the engine with revhard kits to?

Any turbo manifold that places a T04E or T04B compressor housing close to the left side of the block will require cutting of some of the aluminum webing on the block!

Or did what i did. A sharp metal grinding bit in an electric drill.
I had to take about 1/2" off of the webbing and I also knocked off one of the tabs to make it easier to run the intake pipe.

Yes, from talking to Dave Shih, I learned it's just luck of the draw. But it's much more likely on the fat housing of the E rather than B.

B/C although these are imports which have relatively little tolerances for variance in the engine build, there still are some. Remember, we're talking about shaving a 1/4 or 1/2" here. The same turbo may require block shaving on one car and none at all on another.

With my Drag gen 3 kit on my d16z6 I had to remove one bar that connects the transmission to the engine and I had to heat and twist the downpipe to make it fit. I can't wait to get a 2 1/2" dp

I had to shave a pretty good bit off of some "webbing" that is around a bolt from the tranny...I was hesitant to shave and didn't take enough, now I noticed I have a slight exhaust leak because the turbo hit the block before the manny sealed all the way
