Mini me D16 Timeing Problems please help!
hey all i'm having trouble w/ the timeing on my d16z6 mini me it's a 91 civic si 1.6 w/ a 94 ex sohc vtec z6 head. well i'm having trouble finding tdc. on the cam sproket that is. there's 3 marks that look like "l" one verticle at 12 o clock and the 2 horizontal at 3 and 9. then there is a arrow on the inner t-belt cover... well what i'm getting to is that i'm not sure where to line what mark to... any idea's???? i just want to make sure timeing is on because i know it's way off. btw i'm running a p28 ecu. and also there's suppose to be a white arrow or dot on my crank pulley but all i can seem to find is a red dot and a "D" stamped on it. any idea's???? i will post pics of the marks and stuff later today but i really want to get this done tonight.
heres the easiest way to find tdc of the block get a long screw driver and stick it in the #1 spark plug hole and turn the crank to tdc basically when its there leave it and then with eth head the 3 marks are easy there should be a mark that says up that goes up and teh 2 other marks should line up with teh head evenly get a manual it helps alot
here's a pic. i think i'm gonna stick a long extension down cyl 1 and turn till it comes to top here's a pic of the cam sprocket that's the next to figure where to line these marks.
lol thanks a lot that is what i'm gonna do... i do need to get a manual but i'm gonna spend the dough and get a FSM. but my b16 will be here soon so i'll need one for that motor. this ones comming out.
see the mark or line on the bottom of the cam gear, line it up with the plastic pointer to the left of it. did you get the bottom crank pulley mark set yet?

hrmm everyone else says that mark is suppose to be at 12 o clock and the other 2 should be horizontal w/ the block
also i was cranking it a few hundred times and noticed that it doesn't go to 12 o clock or that little pointer to the bottom left (about 7 or 8 oclock) but it almost lines up w/ the pointer at about 4 oclock. also i noticed when i hooked the timeing light up the marks i believe are at about 3 oclock or so on the crank.

PS..The red mark in the center of the three grooves of the balancer is 15 degrees BTDC.
imed you
can i take off the belt and rotate the cam sprocket 180deg so it's at tdc to fix it. the crank is at tdc and the vertical mark is at 12 oclock instead of 7
