Default Engine Mounts Going Bad?

I think my engine mounts are busted. Everytime I start my car it makes a knocking creeking. And when I am at a light and just start to accelerate it makes that sound and just before I come to a complete stop it makes that sound also. How much are engine mounts and how much does it cost to replace?

You can do it yourself.

Check these 2 websites for good prices on OEM parts.

If you're on the East Coast:

or
If you're on the west coast:

If you want some aftermarket mounts, take a look at innovativemounts.com. Robear racing sells them for a good price. Innovative uses 3 mounts. The front mount is eliminated.

Are aftermarket more firm and absorbs all the vibrations so the car would start to vibrant right?

dood I broke a front motor mount....2 weeks later I creamed my axels I HIGHLY reccomend that you get it replaced ASAP the front motor mount was 50 bucks from a honda dealership....I also had ordered some polyurethane inserts that go in gaps in the space of the motor mount....they were 20 bucks...the inserts really help get rid of a lot of wheel hop, but you will notice more vibration when idleing.......

You can get a tube of urethane and fill them yourself to strengthen them. I've even repaired broken mounts this way too.

Theres an article in Sport Compact Car this month where they are doing the same thing and shows some good pics also.

Look in a home improvement store in the caulking section, should be around $5 a tube, but yeah it works great and IMO its better than an insert because an insert can still move around a bit afterwards.
