Default mis-shift/overrev, now valvetrain noise

[edit]damnit, typo in the title.... NOW valvetrain noise [/edit]

i was at the track, missed 3-4... instead went 3-2 at 94mph.... ouch. this is on a JDM H22, BTW. i engaged clutch soon enough, thankfully, to avoid grenading it.

compression is fine on all cyls. no idle problems. AFRs are perfect. still has plenty of power. no oil in coolant vice-versa. no metal shavings in oil. OK, so everything important is fine.....

i have performed valve adjustments twice. both times .006 intake, .007 exh.

still valvetrain noise. i understand some is normal with DOHC VTEC and fairly agressive JDM cams. however, it seems excessive and more than it was before overrev. LMAs? set lash to .005/.006?

is it a loud clicking, try checking your rocker arms see if any are cracked or broken. i had a broken one and same no matter how many times i adjusted still clicked, then took it all apart and found a cracked rocker arm.

my engine is a little noissy too and compression/leakdown test are more than fine. When i remove the valve cover for some valve adjustment i found out that the rocker arms are a little worned. My mechanic said that this is just fine to use with no future problems or power loss but the motor will remain noissy until i replace them. I can only hear a light clicking at idle and it go away after pass 900rpm but the engine noise i'm refering to is more like a light buzzing sound.

So now i'm in a hunt for some good aftermarket rocker arms but i can only find the vtec elimination ones... any good brands beside oem??

Unless you go tight side of Honda spec then you'll still have a good amount of valvetrain noise.

.006/.007 is the tight side

the noise doesn't go away depending on RPM

you still couldve bent the valves... they can bend and then go back, but they will eventually snap if thats the case.

If the rocker arms are bent then you might just want to look for a good used head as the rockers themselves are around $1200

the damn thing is fine.

my PCV/catchcan was not air-tight. all the seals around the catchcan top had rotted/deteriorated (sp?) and cracked.

removed all that **** and it sounds normal again.
