Default b20... supercharge or turbo ?

i am going to england for two years... and i am buyingself a 92-95 civic hatch... doing a b20 frankenstein transplant (vtec head and type r intake manifold) but my question is this ... turbo ... or supercharger ? plan is to make a racey type car with some serious kick but that i can use for a daily driver also. i was thinking supercharger cause EVERYONE is doing turbo ;/ and i am kinda sick of hearing about turbo's all the time..

what you guys suggest

It's preference. I prefer turbo because the spool time allows a nice daily (staying out of boost saves gas), while a super is always sucking gas. Your call.

supercharger. It's going to help your ENTIRE bandwidth unlike a turbocharger so I would think it'd be best if you use it as a daily driver.

i would say just build the frankenstein. all motor you can get good power out of that setup. but it also depends on what kind of racing your talking bout. circuit or drag?

just drag racing. i am not really a track racing kinda person. some street legal events plus the occiational wise *** on the street thinking his daddy's 325i bmw is all that. my point being it i feel the need to upgrade later to more power... which will be cheaper to upgrade and maintain ? the T or S/C ?? let's put it this way... maybe someday my goal will be to pwn a e46 m3 (psyco goal i know but that car to me is the benchmark i dont need to know a r34 gtr... i just wanna beat a stock e46 m3 then i'll be happy. i dont wanna be the fastest. i just wanna have the most fun

Honestly...the turbo is way more efficient and useable daily IMO...like people have said...you can stay out of boost if you like....and turbos being laggy or what not...just get a smaller turbo! Superchargers are a waste IMO...they are parasitic and take power away from your motor to make power...where turbos use waste product! Also...if you are at altitude like me...the sc wont boost as much as it would at sealevel...and you cant change this without changing the pulley...where as with a turbo it will sping until it hits 10 psi if thats what the gate is set at regardless of altitude...just things ot think about!

search in the forced induction forum before making a thread in the wrong forum.

I would do just a B20B/Z turbo though. You'll make plenty of power without VTEC...

i helped put a jrsc on my buddys 93 si with a b20z and it fell on its face past 5k

make sure you get a good tune
he had a supercharged ls in his Car and swapped it for the b20 and the ls woulda killed the b20 in a race... im pretty sure it was just his tune but the supercharger was not sufficient enough for the displacement

yeah you can make alot of power without vtec and it could still be a good daily driver. a guy at the track i know with a DC b20 turbo did 12 flat on his first run spinning 1st and 2nd in 110+ degree heat. he daily drives his car and spanks everyone on the street also. i would defenitly not go s/c tho.

Yea and your a tard, Turbo b20 with a real tune, should be quite fun. In my road race car right sits a completly stock b20b with a 60-1 running 10-11psi. Had the car at gingerman last week, ran 5 session 15 minutes each... So thats about 60-70miles of nonstop boost at 6-7k rpm, bouncing off the revlimiter in 4th gear down every straight. I'd have to say if the sleeves didnt fail last week, it takes alot of effort to really blow the motor. Mainly being stupid will blow the motor, keep the rev limiter low, and watch the vitals and the motor should last.

If you really want a blower, you should look into getting an endyn (www.theoldone.com) kit with their modified eaton and smaller pulleys. Most likely quite expensive, but you'll have a real fat powerband that's for sure.

good luck
