sounds to me like the speedo cable?

Is it coming out of the tranny? The VSS vehicle speed sensor is on the tranny real close to the rear mount. Has a cable that goes into the firewall at a slight angle then goes up to your gauges and such.

It should be the same in a std as an Si.

Not sure, couldnt understand what ur saying real well.

you can take off, there should be..uhh...3 bolts, all 10mm.

2 take it apart, one takes it out of the tranny. the one that is closest to the mount, and like, lowest in the engine bay, like, closer to the ground I guess takes it out. the other 2 bolts just take it apart. then you can pull the cable off easier and not loose the little clip inside of it.

so the bolt closest the motor mount and also closest to the ground in the bolt your looking for. there was a pic in here soemplace...cuz I went to the junkyard...and stuff...ill try to find a pic.

oh yea youll need a LONG extention, like a 12" and a moveable socket (that can change angels and stuff) make it alot easier. its really a pain if all the hoses and wires are in the way, but since your taking the motor out, feel free to remove obstructions.

On the wiring, the easiest thing to do
is unplug the harnesses and pull them with the engine..

Separate the connectors as outlined in yellow circles..
You will probably just have the ones on the
passenger side if it is a STD..

To remove the VSS from the transmission,
[Remove the bolt and retainer..]
Blow any debris around the top with compressed air
and then soak it with a penetrating oil like PB BLASTER.

Then twist it from side to side with a pair of small vice-grips
and then pull upward and it should come out..

yea spray a penetrating lube on the VSS!
heat valve lube works wonders!

and twist and pull and pry your *** off. mine came out REAL ewasy, so did my friends, but they were newer. junkyard ones that we replaced (for b series swaps) came from tegs, they were a BIOTCH to get out, think 2ft long prybars and 3 ppl. and a broken windshield!
