hard pull under acceleration
hey guys, thought I would swing this by all of you, and get your opinion... 89 CRX Si, when my foot is off the gas, the car drives straight down the road... But when I let go of the wheel, and give it gas, the car wants to turn the wheels to the right... Ideas? suggestions?

Unequal length axles causes more torque steer than if you had equal length axles. It may not hurt to get an alignment checked and adjusted as necessary.
you're not supposed ro let go of the wheel EVER when driving especially when accelerating. get you ca couple of sway bars under the car, have alignment checked, you'll be ok
and remember 10 O'Clock and 2 O'Clock always keep your hands firmly planted on the wheel in those positions.

It sounds like torque steer, and I have it too. The way I was told to correct it by DSS and others is to play with the toe. Changing to toe settings other than stock that is. And for those that may disagree, I've had my car recently realigned and the torque steer did not go away. DSS also informed me its not caused by unequal lengths. Never heard sway bars correcting it, and I have both front and rear.
Also, if its torque steer, it should turn the opposite way under hard braking.

Ok if unequal lengths don't cause torque steer, how come after i swapped out my zc with unequal length axles and swapped in my b16 with equal length axles did my torque steer decrease??? I am not disagreeing with you I am just wondering the reasons DSS gave. Thanks
I would figure weight shifting under acceleration is making one wheel toe in more or less in a certain direction. The weight shifting under braking is the opposite, therefore the car turns the opposite direction. That's how my car is and has always been.
Also note that not every car has it. I've driven about 15 different CRXs. Mine is the only one that has it if I remember correctly.
So with that thought, I would think its pure luck that the zc swap cured it. I really can't explain why your ZC doesn't have it anymore. Ask DSS.

Sway bars are NOT good if you have aftermarket suspension. I have an article on why they are no good if you e-mail me at: dohc16v@shaw.ca
Basicly you wonder why a lot of stock cars come with sway bars?? It is because it is cheaper for the companys to make the cars witht them cause they can use lesser spring rates on there shocks. When using aftermarket shocks it almost pulls the wheels off the ground because now your using stiffer spring rates. Something like that.
Even so using a rear sway bar buggers up your exhaust in the back and you'll have a severe dent in your pipe wich otta be good for flow.
