ECU TUNING, HIGH COMPRESSION, WHAT IS THE HIGHEST COMPRESSION YOU CAN RUN WITH OUT PINGING ON STREET
I wanna run a real strong setup in my ITR, but I also wanna make it completly everyday street car. For example, Toda Spec C cams, 12:1 - 12.5:1 compression. My main question is will this setup be possible to run street gas w/ absolutely no pinging. If so, what are my options, as ECU Tuning goes. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I'm tired of watching my friends blow-up their motor from negligence.
You can't go wrong with a standalone such as http://www.hondata.com.
12.1-12.5 is definetly streetable provided it is tuned correctly.

good man
12.5 is streetable on 93 octane and with good tuning

You can run high compression. But there are things you can and cannot do
with that kind of motor. You must learn to change your driving style and learn
what situations can cause detonation.
and sgt what are those conditions? i would like to know..
.....going up a 45 degree hill in 5th gear at 2k rpms for example (at 16000ft elevation) for example

For those of you that go to Cal state hayward in the bay, uh oh.
Endyn Pistons! , I used to use JE untill I Built B20s and they ping like hell over 11.5 , One of my set-ups uses Endyn 12.5 -1 with 10 Thou of the block and it runs 17 deg timming no probs.Plus clean up the combustion chamber on the head and run a lower temp thermostat ,( Spoon) and you should be fine.
What about 91 or 90
octaine??? would you guys say 11:1???
damn it...how many typos can i do in one sitting. ****.
on me.

The only reason endyn pistons can run higher compression is because Larry sands them down by hand before he ships them. That takes off the sharp edges which are what heat up and cause pre-ignition and therefor cause detonation.
Get a set of JE's which are lighter, stronger, and have better clearances and just sand them down by hand. Better than Endyn's garbage. Wiseco are very old school fashioned pistons. JE are the funk!

Even with proper tuning what kind of compression can you run safely on Cali's crappy 91 octane gas?
In Portugal we have 98 octane, my ITR is on my Honda dealer to install the CTR pistons.
