i use high temp teflon even if the situation doesn't require it. I just feel better about the connections throughout my engine bay.

AN tapered fittings will leak if you use teflon tape.

Are they copper crushwashers? If you can get the thicker aluminum ones. I had a problem with a Civic leaking fuel filter. I swapped the crushwashers back to aluminum ones and it sealed up no problem. May be a similar scenario, or I'm just typing to type. GOOD LUCK!

Russel fittings are near the bottom of my preferred list. This is not to say they don't work,I just don't think they are as good (quality) as Aeroquip, or Earls. There is no good reason for the fitting to leak at the angled sealing surface no matter who makes them.I have had them leak at the swivels and had the toss them.I try to avoid the swivel styles if I can.

is it a compression fitting?? if so..your other side has to be a compression fitting as well, thats how they seal, and if you over tightn them they will leak! No teflon is needed, just compression to compression, the two taper ends meet against each other to seal!

I elimated that whole dampening dealy cause i felt it sucked. The little brass part that sticks out the rail is threaded, and uses the same size fitting as the fuel filter.
