Bucking, now won`t start. Spark and fuel are there. (searched, help please!)
So on the way to an auto-x the other day I floored it on the highway and the car started bucking like crazy and died. I pulled over, tried to start it again and it fired up fine. I could rev it no problem without load but as soon as I tried to drive it it would buck even at low rpm.
I waited about 20min tried again and drove off with no issue.
At the auto-x I spun it and the car stalled, started it, went to finish my lap and it started bucking and died. Now it wont start at all.
Its a d16z6 semi-built turbo running chrome. Ive never had an issue like this before.
Now, if I try to start it it just cranks until it floods and gives a little burp before it dies. If I turn the fuel pump off it will start if I have my foot on the pedal a bit and then die a second later.
- getting fuel in all cylinders
- blue spark on all cylinders
- new cap and rotor
- replaced IACV and fast idle valve
- tried another ecu
- tried 3 sets of plugs
- compression checks out
Im stumped.
The funny thing is, last night I changed the IAC just because it was a little rough idling sometimes and I figured Id give it a shot. It fired right up three times in a row. This morning I go to leave for work and it will not start at all.
The car will usually give a little burp if I give it a touch of gas but wont start.
Someone help me out! I have no idea what to do next...

timing belt jump a tooth? injectors stuck open...map sensor gettin a false reading or being unplugged. cap/rotor/coil/icm....etc.... there are a million things that could cause the car to run like ****.

IM leaning away from ignition problems since it fires up when the fuel pump is off. THis means I must be getting spark.
The problem came went then came back worse so I dont think its the timing belt jumping either.
Map sensor is plugged in fine.

not if they're just stuck open.
not if they're just stuck open.
Got home lastnight, went to start it and it fired up just fine.
It is still bucking most of the time if I try to rev it.
I pulled the vac line of the FPR to see if its functioning and RPMs went up as expected.
Disconnected one injector at a time, all are firing.
Im stumped.

Not necessarily but a wideband reading would tell you a lot.

it does sound like your dizzy is trying to die.
to check injectors:
take the cap off the dizzy. slowly turn the rotor and listen for the injectors to make a click sound (from opening). this means they are working.

UPDATE:
The car now starts every time but is still surging/bucking under throttle.
I tried another dizzy with no change.
I did notice that upon starting it it would sometimes rev normally until I tried disconnecting the idle control valve. At this point, even if I plugged it in again, it would surge every time I tried to rev. Even at low rpm.
Also, the idle set screw has no effect even when the IAC is unplugged.
I have recently swapped the fast idle control valve to fix some previous issues (resolved) and also tried a spare IAC with no change.
It seems that the IAC may be having some effect on it but I cant figure out the link.

this is not an easy problem to resolve over the net. you need to understnad the net cannot always solve your oissues, especially something like this.
you need to have a shop look at it and determin what might be the issue. it coudl be a simple wire shorting, or as bad as you burned holes in the pistons. I don't know, but again take it to a reputable shop and have THEM troubleshoot it and let you know an estimate in writting with a garranty on their work and their parts.
