can pass the sniffer - yes.
but pass a visual with competent inspector (bar), no.
For two reasons
1. B20 was only in a light truck, can't legally swap a light truck engine into passenger car. k24 is another story.
2. Heads are swapped, can't change one head over to another block unless it appeared that way from the factory. example: can't swap p72 head over to b16 block, never appeared that way. I'm not even sure if you can get pass b.a.r. with a itr head on a b18c1 block just because of the different engine designation.
go read more on http://www.dmv.ca.gov, and interprete for yourself. but thats the way I read it.

i didn't regeister the car with that motor, but i did smog tested it. go to the ones that are cool with using aftermarket exhaust (not the **** ones). I used stock intake and header but i had on my apexi n1 when smoged. I barely passed it but passing is passing, i did it in san bernardino

Yes, that usually does help.
But, the best way to pass a vehicle is the LEGAL way, we smog K20, B20 and H22 swaps everyday. We're in 2006 now, no more shortcuts. We actually convert the vehicles to CNG/LPG, certify them with the state as flexfuel/CNG, exempt the smogs indefinitely, then uninstall the CNG/LPG conversion kits.
Forget cutting corners, why pay for a crooked smog every 2 years? if you do it right the first time, you won't have to watch your back or stress out about getting referee tickets, or even worry about any future smogs.....

Do you have more information on coverting it to CNG and getting it certified?

This is exactly why smog threads should be state specific. Exemptions that are valid and applicable in one state, are invalid and unacceptable in another.
