Ok, here's the suckass story in a nutshell...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
car stolen ( 94 honda civic EX)
insurance not covered for theft so
and rapped in the a-hole
car recovered
payed out the *** for towing
brought back to my house
no engine or wiring harness or any of that good stuff
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My friend just crashed his 97 civic dx hatchback (automatic) and is willing to give me anything i need for my car for free to try and get it back up and running.
><><><><><><&g t;<><><><><><> <><><><><><>&l t;><><><><><>< ><><><><><><&g t;<>
The basics of what's going on-------
I want to use as many parts as I can from my friends automatic 97 civic EK hatchback
********** This is what I'm thinking, I'll use my friends engine, a D15XX (i forget what the hell it is), and a OBD1 manual tranny that i have along with the shift linkage and **** i have to go with it.
So being my dumbass-mechanically-inclined self, i've got a few questions maybe some of you guys can help me with. lets start...
1.) Can i use my friends EK motor mounts?
2.) What engine harness whould i use, should i buy an OBD1 harness or use my friends OBD2?
3.) For the ECU (which i will need to buy) will i need a conversion harness at all?
4.) Any other parts i should use from my friends civic?
5.) Do i need to use a OBD2 Dx ECU since i will be running a OBD2 engine?
More questions are on their way

im pretty sure the mounts are different cause its an auto maybe the one motor mount might work. you need the stock engine harness for your car and a obd1 dx ecu your ecu was jacked to huh? all you can really use is his motor and linkage. just keep your car obd1.
1.) Can i use my friends EK motor mounts?
no, as you can see the bays are different - d-series mounts are inexpensive anyway
2.) What engine harness whould i use, should i buy an OBD1 harness or use my friends OBD2?
obd1 harness for sure, and get an OBD1 P06-A01 ECU (i had this same setup in my '92 DX [D16Y7]
3.) For the ECU (which i will need to buy) will i need a conversion harness at all?
no, not if its OBD1
4.) Any other parts i should use from my friends civic?
see as you go - i'd remove the DIZZY and the ALTERNATOR and get OBD1 D-series ones - will make the swap MUCH easier
5.) Do i need to use a OBD2 Dx ECU since i will be running a OBD2 engine?
you cannot use the OBD2 DX ECU from his car (it is automatic and OBD2 lol) get your hands on the P06-A01 Manual and you're fine with that motor.

that sounds like it - you'll need 5spd axles for the D16Y7 also - pretty much as if you were doing a B-series swap just with a D16Y7. don't let it get you down, my friend ben has a D16Y7 in his EG - turbo kit sent him into the 12's as far as 1/4mi goes... good luck and don't hurt yourself!
