Default Overheating when stopped/idling

K recently ive been having a problem with my car where if its at operating temp and i come to a stop light and im sitting for a minute or so the temp gauge will rise. Now the thing that is weird about it is that if it starts to rise and i give it some throttle (in neutral) it will drop back down to normal pretty much instantly. So im thinking its either my thermostat or water pump, just wondering if you all had any input.

Do your fans work?

A stuck thermostat would overheat all the time, as well as a broken waterpump. Only reason I can come up for your overheating is the fans.

reason i dont th ink its a fan problem is because it happens in the same amount of time whether its really hot outside or whether its a cool summer evening. Might not be exactly the same amount of time but i havent had any problems in a year and this just started happening.

id change the water pump, timing belt, tensioner and thrmostat its probley time for it anyways..

how many miles are on the engine.

could be thrmo half stuck, enough to let water through when reved but not enough to idle causing overheating

how about the simplest answer. I had the same problem with my civic. Turned out to be air in the lines.

if the tstat was stuck partially open it would overheat on the highway, and have a hard time keeping at operating temprature at idle. at least that is what i have been told/ experienced

checked it out today and seemed like it was kinda low on coolant so i filled her up quickly cause i had to leave but will check it out more tomorrow. thinking I might need a water pump replacement cause thats the only place i could see me losing any coolant which would be from the weeping/telltale hole.
