w/o the projectors: illegal
w/ projectors: still illegal

HIDs are only allowed on vehicles that came w/ it from the factory..

I wonder if anyone has ever been pulled over for having a Retrofit yet? Technically, retrofits are legal since all the parts are OEM and DOT approved

What is your reasoning behind that.

They are brighter and have a more natural hue... makes the road easier to see.. bit safer

maybe its just because a few cars have them..... but whenever I see / sense HID's it a) Completely distracts me, b) it is OVERLY bright (or at least in comparison to normal) c) And it just seems obnoxious and un needed

and then once your in a car w/ HID's its a whole different story. Now that I have mine, others cars w/ HID's dont bother me cause we all know what the great improvement in visibility is all about and its worth the mild blinding IMO.

well there are hid projectors which i think are fine, but there are two differant kinds of hids, one that goes in a projector,, and the other that is supposed to be used for people that have a reflector (like on a stock prelude) which have an added piece that helps block the light. most people don't care and get the wrong bulbs which will blind you if they have reflectors and get the wrong ones.

hey jdbrandonr, ur sign says u have heated seats, do u have a pic of what the switches for each seat look like once installed. please PM with pics

i remember reading this somewhere about 6 months ago when i was thinking of getting HIDs, never did, so someone correct me if i am wrong

You're correct You could alway rebase the D2R bulb to beable to fit into projectors. I've done this, to a few retrofits, and they still lite up the road just fine

d2r bulbs even though being for a reflector housing... is still meant to go in a housing meant for an HID bulb. People who don't retrofit are the ones responsible for the blinding. I have never been blinded by an OEM HID car

i have BMW hid kit on my 97 honda prelude with mercede e55 projectors retrofit. i think it not illegal as long as you don't blind people and cause accident etc. i stop face to face with cops couple time, never got pull over because of the hid and projectors. just point them down. For those hid without projectors, it just going to shinning everywhere so it maybe illegal.

If you put HID projectors in, the light will actually focus onto the street like it's suppose to instead of all in trees and bushes

do you have instructions for refiting the housing? I used to work for acura and my buddy (who is the head mechanic) and i tried a test mount in an old rsx housing and drilling throught the back to put the projector in caused the lense to become coated in dust. we tried to use an airhose to blow it out, uneventful... any hints?

I don't have instructions, but there are a few write-ups floating around on Prelude Power...As a matter of fact, if you want a set already made, I have some up for sale right now that have TSX projectors in them. If you're interested, just email me at romanticpimp@hotmail.com or PM me
