custom HID setups..???
Many hondas...well acuras come with HID headlamps. I was wondering what kinds of junkyard parts could be sourced to make an "OEM" hid setup. Maybe some ballast and the bulbs from a CL type S? etc just an idea. I have seen a couple of eg's with some rigged BMW HID (junkyard parts). Just an idea...

ok lets try this again. HOW? WHAT? what off of what car will have to be used? Are there any HID H4 bulbs in the acura lineup? Like i asked what setups? For example "I used the bulbs from a bmw ____ with ballast from a acrua___ etc.

basically, all manufacturers use a ballest and bulb in their oem setups. people take the ballest and bulb out, and stick them into their own headlights (sometimes oem, sometime ghetto rigged, always illegal).
oem setups use either a d2s bulb (for projectors like audis, s2k) or a d2r bulb (for reflector hids like acura tl and older benzes).
the best oem retrofit, imo, is putting a whole ballest/bulb/projector assembly out of one vehicle and putting it into another housing. by doing so, u keep the correct bulb in the correct position with the correct output pattern

Re: (milo)
on the custom/retro-fit kits, what all did you have to do get the kid to fit??? So HID is still about 250+ from a junkyard (and even that is considered a deal). So the HID's would look kinda off in my OEM 99 civic headlamps.?

I've got HID's in my 00 Si and think it looks nice. Very little glare but a bunch of stray light. I say go for it. Just align them good after the install.

Re: (-CivicTuner-)
it's pretty simple to install them correctly so there is little to NO glare at all.. All you need is to cut up a pop can so it's a sheild and attatch it so that it is on top of the bulb and extends all the way to the glass/plastic of your headlights.. That way it will have a decent cut off and NOT blind the **** out of everyone on the road and cause HID's to be labled illegal..
