Default tuning ?????

I have a 94 cx with a b16 with Type R mani, JE 11.1 pistons, head shaved all the way, 1mm oversized valves, upgraded valvetrain, MSD dizzy with coil, stage 2 cams, buddyclub cam gears, chipped p28 ecu, motor rebuilt 3 months ago...The car is untuned... Will a street tune give my car more power and is it necissary for a dyno tune, and do I have to buy a wideband to get the car tuned? Just curious never had a car tuned before and want to no the advantages

A wideband would be useless for you at this point because you have nothing to tune with, unless the "chipped" ECU can be plugged in to be reprogrammed. I would at least use an VAFCII to iron out a few kinks if needed, but otherwise, make sure good fuel and spark is in the car and enjoy.

Most shop will use a wide-band to help tune. Thats what I was told.

so a street tune mainly consists of your A/F ratio correct?

Yes, you are correct. the day after i got my car i took it to cft dyno in orlando because it was running a little to rich, so thay hooked up a wideband o2 sensor and just did a street style tune and only adjusted the A/F ratio with my vafc and now its running awsome. good luck

Yup.

A street tune may or may not gain you power, all depends on how good the tuner is. What it will do is make the car run well in normal driving conditions, IE part throttle.

A dyno tune will aid in finding the most power during WOT conditions.

A good tuner will use a wideband along with whatever program your ECU is chipped with (Uberdata, Crome, etc). If the tuner doesn't have a wideband, do not go to them, they will be tuning blind... which is not good at all.

oh and yes tuning is very important and should give you car quite a bit more horse power, when cft tuned my car it made almost 20 more hp. oh and you probly wont have to buy a wideband, most dyno shops should have one.

A basic tune is basiclly a/f and timing. My car was running on the rich side but still had alittle det. aka pinging. I had to retard my timing about 3-4 degrees and now it runs awsome

What tuning program are you running on the P28 now?

I'm in Bradenton, just a little south of you. I've got a wideband and can tune Uberdata, Crome, Hondata, etc. Let me know if you need some help.

That's normally only done on dyno tuning.

Personally I wouldn't trust anyone to tune CROME that can't spell it. j/k
