car down 30 whp???
I went to the dyno a couple of months ago and dynoed my ls/vtec setup at 185whp which i felt was low to begin with. I returned to the dyno yesterday and the car was dynoed at 155 and got lower after every run....the first thing to come to mind was i blew the motor or bent valves so we did a compression test which was 220 across the board, and leakdown was below normal amounts allowed. my tuner is great and knows his stuff in and out, and air fuel was dead on nothing else was touched. what could cause this? we think its electrical(Distributor or msd) but i wanna get some more input before i rip out my msd box...
my mods are:
ls/vtec
type r pistons
ported b16 head
skunk2 stage 2 cams , springs , retainers
type r manifold
3" aem intake
dc jdm 4-1( running open header)
hondata
msd digital 6 and external coil.
everything on the motor has under 3,000 miles on it and the car is not daily driven so any input at all will be greatly appreciated.

everyone thinks it electrical but i dunno what ...if the msd is bad i think it just wouldn't work period, but i'm not sure...everything on the motor is brand new cams ,springs ,retainers, valves, guides seals, rings everything....the motor test were perfect so i doubt its mechanical its gotta be someting in the ignition system.

SOunds like everything in the motor is fine even electrical. If something were wrong it would show up in the A/F ratio. Does the car sound like it is misfiring. If not it is probably not electrical. What you may want to do is pull the valve cover and check to see if the cams went flat. That would definately loose power.
how's it feel when yur driving under acceleration does it come out of a bog then go...?? plugs look good?? You'd be amazed what could go bad in a distributor. But did the tuner help you check it out first then tell you its the dizzy maybe or was that his first instinct??

I would put all of your stock ignition componants back in. They are more than fine. I went throught the enire MSD ignition external coil phase it all looks cool when you open your hood but truth is there is nothng better than OEM. Stock cap, rotor, coil and wires, can't beatem!!
It does not take long to change, try it out.

Running open header will take away high RPM HP, but will give you extra low RPM torque... I'd go with a non restrictive 2.5" - 2.75" exhaust system.
