So your existing gauge cluster harness doesn't plug n play with your new cluster?
You may need to find the correct harness for the new cluster.

I'm not sure but I think it might just control one of the lights or cruise control or something.
Just leave it off and see if everything is ok

my friend's eg has a green one like that. he plug it into the yellow one. it's for his shifting light. some model civic from canada will have shifting lights. so when you bought the new cluster it was probably from the US and your car is from canada or someone might of put it in. try putting it in the yellow and see if everything works. ifs its not for shifting lights its for SRS. the big plugs are for gas/temp/speedo/rpm. good luck.
i dont think its needed. just try running it without pluging it in and see if everything works.

It's definately not needed for your basic read outs like speed, tach, temp, fuel, and the indicator lights. I have a 96 cx and I don't have a green plug so I'm guessing it's for an option addition that didn't come on my base model. i.e. it's not necessary for normal driving purposes.
