please help with motor identification

Default please help with motor identification

ok my friend an me just got back from lookin at this motor for him , the guy said it was gsr motor the block said b18c but it didnt have the gsr intake manifold it looked to be a b16a manifold , now i remeber there are things we can look for to figure out exaxtly what motor this is , if you please tell me how to identify what head what block an what tranny cuz im thinkin that we stumbled upon a type r motor or a gsr motor with a b16a head ,
pictures showin what to look for whould be great

Well if the motor is stamped "B18C" then the block is defintely a JDM R motor.

If it is C1, or C5, then it is a GSR or USDM R, respectively.

I really don't know the distinctive differences between a B16A2 intake manifold or an ITR manifold so I couldn't help ya out, sorry

it may have been a JDM ITR motor, or just that, a GSR block with B16 head. look for a PR3 stamp on the head, and look for the P72 stamp on the block.

where are these stamps?

You know the block is a jdm 1.8,look on the head above the exhaust manafold to identify what the #'s are on the head.

the head id code was pr3-4 an it had a y21 tranny now what parts does this motor have

There's a stamp near the distibutor I think. Also on the front side of the head. ITR is P73 I think.
