Default Distributor bearings?

I have a nasty sound that im pretty sure is coming from the distrib. So my question is does the distrib. even have bearings? If so is it a quick fix?

yes, and obd0 dizzys go bad all the time b/c the bearings go and then it self destructs the cpk, cmp, and cyp sensors.

however, obd1 and 2 fail occaisionally as well

yeah it could be bearing failure

how bout taking off the dizzy and spinning the shaft that should tell u impeadiately

it should feel smooth but notchy there should be no shaft play

btw when u put the dizzy back on, only one bolt is needed to secure it to the head the bottom one deff. must go as its a pita

Well its off, and the tip of (with the 2 teeth that mate with the camshaft) it is pretty wobbly. When i spin the shaft it wiggles alot is it normal.

the base with 2 notches pivots, if u cant determine from that end pull of the cap 3 screws and pull the rotor off one screw, and then check from there if there is any play. and see if there is any noise while spinning the shaft

I actually took off the the base with to nothches to see if it was oblonged. Its not the bearings either. The shaft it tight and seems fine. Its gotta be the tip its not tight and just wiggles and makes a little chatter when i spin it with my fingers.

With your expieriences with a distrib does the tip with the notches fit tightly or wiggle?

the exposed shaft with notches will pivot in 2 directions freely, and it should be smooth but notchy feeling when spun

It moves enough to make a chatter even with my fingers.

as long as its side to side play only from the center of the pivot , that would be normal.
