testing compression
I have a 93 civic ex botor blown, I bought an engine from a local junkyard out of a 2000 civic si, is there anyway to check the compression of the engine b4 i try and put it in??
Hmm, I know you can do a leakdown test with a motor out of the chassis...
This is what I would think, someone shoot me if I am wrong -->
If motor is attached to transmission and has a starter, run a battery connection straight to the starter and "jump it" causing the motor to turn over. I have no clue if this would work, but it sounds reasonable in my little brain.

well I thought about turning the motor over by hand, but then i thought I probably couldnt spin it enough to build any kind of compression. Any thing I should out for, I have no history behind this engine a grandma couldve driven it or some idiot that ran all the oil out of it and drove thge **** outta it.. Im half tempted to just buy some new pistons and rings bearings and gaskets, I took the tranny off of it, it looks good, I am however missing the ECU for the engine that had already been taken from the Junkyard. I think My harness should plug in off the shock towers any thing I should know??
