Default best speaker setup for a 92-95 civic hatch...

I soon want to upgrade my system and was wondering what speakers are the best as far as overall sound quality. Here's what I'd like to do:
6.5" component setup in the front doorpanels
5.25" coaxials in the rear sides
5x7s or 6x9s in the rear cargo cover(whichever would fit)
small bass tube from bazooka(so it can fit between the rear seat and strut bar)
Is this a good plan?

Because I'm far from an audio guru, how many way speaker should I get for each location?(2,3,4) I can get a great deal on the blaupunkt stuff and to me it sounds ok, but would like to have the best quality system. I don't want to blow ou my ears or anything, I just want a better sound than what I have now(only a pair of 5.25" up front).

Please explain why you chose the brand that you vote for. also since alpine has taken an early lead is their type r line up the best that they offer.

also looking on crutchfield.com how should I pick what/how many ways I want the speaker to be, I didn't know it but pioneer even makes a 5 way speaker, so now there's 2,3,4 and even 5 ways speakers....none of it makes too much sense to me.

I run a Pioneer Deh-2700mp upfront with xm and ipod package
i have 3way pioneer 6.5s in front, and pioneer 2way 5.25s in back, For subs, im running a dual 12inch 400w Visonik kit from pepboys...overall i have a "budget" system...and it sounds fenominal. With the comparison to blown out stocks...omfg.

HU $120
Fronts $80
Rear $40
Subs $120
total = $360 dollars....thats les than a LUXURY hu by itself. You can easily hear my car from 2 cars over..both highs and lows, and ive been having trouble with the window mech rattling in the doors. But yeah, sounds freakin great. Hope it helps....

PS...i ran a SPL calculator from online and it says im maikn 112db..but i dont think thats right.

Best is relative, what's your budget?

lets say around 600-750 for a realistic budget....maybe a little more if I find another weekend side job to do.

I already have a set of 6.5" componets from blaupunkt I'd like to use, but may sell them to get something better known(I got a great deal on them and decided to get them.). They are the velocity series and are their top of the line offering. Anyone know how these sound....I still haven't installed these yet.

For that budget? Wow.

Alpine stuff -

mrpf250 - 4x40. 2 channels for components, 2 for the sub
sps171a - 6 1/2" components for the front.
sps17c2 - 6 1/2" coaxials for the rear.
Alpine type S sub (don't know model number ).

Should be able to get all that on ebay for less than 500$ easily, though if you're looking at an authorized dealer, you're gonna pay more. Realistically you should go with the mrpf450 instead

Well I don't plan on getting a sub & box setup, just a bass tube. Will 6.5" fit the rear sides? thanks for the part #s I'll go check them out. The amp is something I was definitely not thinking of, probably a good thing to have.

Modified by broketuner-egb16a at 4:35 PM 6/16/2006</TD></TR></TABLE> First forget the 5x7 or 6x9s in the rear security deck, speakers mounted to it will not sound very good, [not solid enough] spent the money on better front speakers, a good system for the car would be the Alpine SPX-177R... http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/p...-177R for the front and Alpine SPX-17MB... http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/p...-17MB for the rear.
A 4ch amp, 75W-100W RMS per ch. into 4 ohms would do the job very nicely.

There are many other very good speakers out there, whatever you get, stay away from the 3way, 4way or, if you find any, 5way speakers.

A good 2way component set for the front, and a mid-range/mid-bass driver for the rear, [no tweeters in the rear] and a 4ch amp to run them is all you need for good sound. Any sub will definitely help

Here's the "but" part, it is critical that the speakers are installed properly for good SQ. 94

Fcm, Spx = expensive @ retail, as is a good amp to power them such as an MRVF345.

He did post a budget, so I'm assuming you're looking at ebay prices

So is the alpine type X now the best of their lineup? and as for the cargo cover I plan to use the current one as an outline for one that I plan to make out of wood, dynamat and cloth. Even so, I got the cargo cover for only 50 bucks so I';m not too worried about screwing it up, but I'll go with a wood one, because it'll be more solid.

I was under the impression the more ways the better.

I still wouldnt put speakers in the rear deck. if you dont, or even if you do, have rear brakets make plates out of your wood(mdf hopefully) and dynamat to go in place of your brackets, and if you put some time into it you could make nice plates to go in the front doors to stiffen up the mounting for the front speakers as well. hit fcm back up as he did something like this i believe, in his teg.

I was under the impression the more ways the better. </TD></TR></TABLE> No, the more speakers you put in a car the more problems you will have setting up the system, and having speakers pointed is all diff. directions at diff. distances from your ears producing the same frequencies will make it impossible to to correct phasing and time alignment problems.

And again, forget the rear deck, spend the money on a better set of front speakers, you will be way better off, much better SQ, and even higher SPL levels, [multiple speakers can and will cancel each other out, and at the least no increase in SPL is gained and a loss in SPL is more likely]

Yes the type "X" are Alpines top of the line, but as I said there are others out there, Eclipse makes some pretty good speakers for the price, http://www.eclipse-web.com if you don't want to do a lot of custom work in the doors, [keep things behind stock grills] look into the point source... http://www.eclipse-web.com/point/sp6500.html

Again spend your money on the front speakers, even a 3way component set, [not triax] and spent the time and energy and a few $$ on the speaker install.
You will not be a happy person if you install a bunch of speakers and the guy with the 2way components, and maybe a pr. of mid-bass drivers in the rear, system not only sounds better but is louder also, and then you will get downright depressed when you find out he's also only running 75% of the power, [watts] you are. 94

Kicker coaxials...that's what I have in my hatch. Two 5 1/4"s at the doors and the same models in the back side panels. They sound fairly nice considering I'm only using an ALPINE cd player pushing them. BTW, I only paid a lil over $100 for all (4) speakers, BRAND NEW IN THE BOX!!!!!!!

I am going with an all Eclipse system. Eclipse radio come with a 5v which is awesome for sound. I don't know why you need to have more then 4 speakers really. I would go with the 6.5 in the from and the 5.5 in the back and put nothing on the back cover. I will only be running 2 6.5 in the front with an amp and a 10 sub and that is it.
