program stock keyless remote without stock radio 2000 honda ex
2000 ex coupe.
hey guys i found this list on how to program my new remote when i searched, but it says to hold the valet switch on the stock radio, i have a aftermart radio that came in the car.. I know sony does not have any valet switch. Is it some where else or is there any other way to re-program the remote..
I know this works from experiance!
1) Turn Ignition to On, but do not crank car
2) Within 10 seconds, press and hold the valet button (Slim button b/w the AM-FM and CD-Tape buttons)
3) While holding valet button, listen for the door actuators to activate
4) Continue holding the valet button and press a button on your remote
5) Still holding valet button, lister for actuators to activate again
6) While holding the valet button, turn the key all the way back (off)
8) When the car is turned completely off the radio may flash (the screen would have been blank the whole time)
7) Remove key and test remote

Ummm, no such thing as a 2000 Ex.
What kind of car are we talking about?

Looks like a CIVIC, which you failed to mention in your title and original post...

Model would help from now on and not simply the year and trim level. Could have been talking about an Accord for all I knew.
With that out of the way, if the instructions say to press a button on the factory radio, then I guess your only option would be to put the factory radio back into the car to program the remote, then reinstall your aftermarket deck. I know you said that you bought the car without the factory deck, so I would suggest either borrowing or purchasing a factory unit to accomplish what you're trying to do.

i did find this out
It sounds like you have programing for an oem key-less entry remote for 96-98 Civics, that had the alarms R/F section built into the oem HU.
On 99 & up Civics the R/F section is not in the oem HU, so you should not need the oem HU to program the remote, just the right programing instructions would be my guess.
