Default head bolts too tight?

hey all i'm new, i'm also trying to remove the head off my 90 Teg GS. motor has about a 100k and the bolts don't seem to budge even when i use a 120psi impact wrench! according to the book, they should only be torqued around 48 lbs. any suggestions?

A nice long breaker bar should do the trick.

thanks. and i am turning them correctly and in the right pattern. the last thing i wanna do is break a bolt off in the block! done it before and it's way too embarassing taking that to the shop to get it out.

ok, i guess a breaker bar is my last hope. liquid wrench doesn't do squat. so much for factory torque specs!

The best breaker bar to use it your jack handle. You cant get plenty of force with it.

I always thought impact guns were easier on fasteners and less likely to break them?

impact guns twist the bolts and some times to much that the threads break off in the head.

well today i had to pull my b16 head off, and I used a breaker bar and pipe on the end and had no problems getting them to brake loose. I see that you are in colorado, and if my motor wasnt down I would have come down to help you out, well good luck with the bolts

get about 2 feet of steel piping, works wonders for leverage on breaking bolts loose

I've started to twist a bolt with a breaker bar before and then took an impact gun to it and it came right off. I've broken many a bolt heads off with breaker bars. Panther **** sure helps though.
