Default Bouncing Speedometer guage

Hey guys I have a stock 91 CRX Si and the mph gauge bounces up and down when you accelerate and even when you are just cruising. What causes this? Its super annoying and looks stupid. Thanks

Speedo or Tach? if speedo then its probably a bad VSS or the cable isn't pushed in all the way...if you ment tach then check the connections on the back of the cluster and in the dizzy...

Sounds like bad VSS or bad VSS solder connections (inside cluster). I had the same problem for a while because I ghetto-rigged the stock cable-driven VSS unit from the original cluster to work with my JDM SiR cluster (I.E. ripped the **** out of the VSS in the original cluster and re-soldered it for use with the JDM cluster).

Cliffnotes: Sounds like your VSS or some connections are going out.

Mine cable started to come out of the hole. Just push it back into the tranny.

my old accord used to do that at low speeds, i think it was just the cluster, most likely ure just gonna need a new cluster/speedo assembly

It is most likely the speedometer cable..

What causes this is that the speedo cable is dry inside and
it begins to bind up causing a condition known as "whipping"..

This condition is usually accompanied by a
constant "wick-wick-wick" sound..

See: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1325930
for information on lubricating the cable..
