Need any type of rtv for rear main seal?

Default Need any type of rtv for rear main seal?

Lookin thru honda service manual and didnt see it say antying bout greasing or adding rtv when puttin in new rear main seal.

So is it just remove and replace? or is adding somethign just supposed to be a given?

Just put it in it, should already be lubed up if its a oem seal

Yeah the seal should be pre-lubed already.

But be careful not to push it ALL the way back. There's a set amount of clearance between the seal and it's housing.....check your manual for that.

you don't have to put grease on it, but with any seal that i replace i put a little extra wheel bearing grease on the seal just to keep it from buring up before it gets oil. i don't know, piece of mind i guess, i like to think thats more is better in that situation
