Planning to lower car - how to jack it up?
Hey everyone, I just found this board and it looks far better than clubsi.com
.
I am thinking about lowering my car with coilovers, but I am concerned about jacking the car up for oil changes (at home) and changing tires. I predicted what the ground clearance would be after the desired drop height, and I found that the front of my jack will not even fit under the car... I could buy new low jack, but I'd like to see other options.
Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

My other concern - what if you have a flat tire in the middle of a highway - can you change the wheels yourself or must you call in a tow truck?
Drive your car onto some wooden planks or anything else to give you that extra bit of height. Then you'll be able to fit your normal jack underneath it.
we do it one of two ways... if it's close, use some brut force and lift the car up a little to squeeze the jack under, or drive up on some wood pieces.
as for changing a flat, if your car is so low the scissor jack that comes with teh car won't fit under it then i don't knwo what to tell you...

You jack won't fit under it? My stock jack fits under my lowered Civic fine, even when I had it dropped 3.5" it still fit. Took a hell of a lot turns to get it up in the air, but it still worked.

my jack fits under my prelude thats lowered 2" w/ wingswest sideskirts.
my floor jack, however, does not fit under the front lip. I either lay a few planks of wood down and drive up onto them or just stick the factory jack under the side, raise it up just a bit, and then slide the floor jack in from the front.
