Default Your thoughts on Crome Pro?

Can you give me your thoughts on Crome (( THE PRO VERSION )) . Do you guys think its worth the 150. Please do not respond with : Go with Uberdata blah blah blah!!! Just give me your opinion on the Crome Pro Program. FYI I thought about it like this.

80 Chip Burner
175 Ostrich
150 For Crome Pro

Thats almost 400$ for about 180$ more I could buy Hondata S300 but those 200$ could buy my Wideband. Just let me know what you guys think of this unit.

it will do the job. if your talking about tuning it yourself you will need to do lots of reading to understand what it's all about. its like saying guns don't kill people, i kill people. ecu's don't blow engines, bad tunes blow engines.

I think chrome_free sucks donkey *****, more bugs then an ant hill, so personally i cant see Chrome_Pro being all that great. Besides my 4-5 other issues with running chipped ECU's. The whole setup is really buggy at times, but i'm sure if it worked flawlessly it would be a sweet setup. I'm ready to argue the suckyness of the application so bring it..

-At times chrome does math as good as a handicaped monkey 1+1 = 4.34534 (now that is some crazy corrections)
-At times the .bins decide to change themselves
-At times chrome will come with some sweet *** "null value" errors while doing simple changes <~ shitty coding
-At times chromes .bins will save corrupted, which will cause a solid CEL
-Most of the time chromes GET/PUT features will not work, if it does work, most likley it will not verify
-At times the chrome .bins will be so fucked up they cause random CEL's to happen

Hey maybe i just got a bunk copy or something, but this is just my simple overview.. More to come this weekend after i play with chrome some more. Like mentioned before, if the applications was bug free and properly tested i'm sure it would be sweet. There is a reason hondata, neptune etc.. cost more.

-edited to add more issues...

I honestly have not had any of those problems. I guess I don’t really depend on many of the features. I use a willen(sp) burner to do the writing. And type in my own corrections. I had to adjust the iat corrections a little bit. Been running it since dec 05. suck your not happy with it. I think the crome guy released a version a while back that cam with the disclaimer “use at your own risk…experimental” maybe you downloaded that one.

Well, if you are going to go Crome Pro, save yourself one cost and just get the burner or Ostrich. In my mind, the costs go like this.

Ostrich - $175
Datalogging - $30
Crome Pro - $149

For that $354 you get everything Hond$$ S300 claims to be...sure there are bugs but havent there always been with various versions of Hond$t$ as well through the years?

What you pay less for is the lack of a customer service center as Crome isnt a commercial operation in that regard...but haven't we seen customer support complaints in regards to Hond$t$ as well?

For another $199, you can pick up the LC-1 Wideband and still be ahead of the full S300 pricing.

Once you tune with the Ostrich...leave it in full time...no need for burning a chip. The Ostrich has a full time battery in it which is supposed to last for a good 30 years give or take. Let the USB cord dangle somewhere thats easy to hook up to if you ever need to change a rev limit, launch setting or upload an 87 octane map if you are sick of the high gas prices

BTW, I use Crome 3-4 times a week tuning cars and I dont see any of the issues stated above when using a stable (not BETA) version of Crome.

Yah...too many of you crazy kids ordering that past few months have made it VERY hard to keep stuff in stock.

The nationwide LC-1 shortage is one thing...who knows whats going on there.

The Ostrich are on backorder again as well...what can you do. I am going to start stocking 50 at a time

Im confused. I am now hearing that crome isnt a real time tuner. Everytime you make a change on any of the tables you have to re burn the chip. Is this true. Can someone give me an honest break down of how it works. The crome site isnt that helpful. Please.

thanks in advance.

ive tuned so many cars with crome pro over the last couple of years and all without 1 problem....right now i have a 400whp daily driven gsr running the latest version without 1 problem...and tons of cars around norcal that are daily driven without any issues....
the real time datalogging and map trace are a must have for tuning...the ability to write your own plugins to add extra features to the software makes its abilities only limited to your abilities with coding/electronics...with ostrich hooked up and realtime update enabled you can make instant on the fly changes without a problem....so far for me its worked flawlessly
ive had other shops call me for help with crome pro and getting realtime update to work properly...i can tell you 99% of the problems are user error.

well my tunner uses both Uberdata and Crome Pro.. He bought Crome pro because of the autotune feautre and he thought he could get more HP tunning with Crome Pro... Turns out that most of the cars he switched to Crome pro lost HP..no matter what he did on the tune... So he switched back to Uber tunning and has had better results.

ive tuned a few cars on uber and on cromepro...i will never go back to uber. and all the problems ive run into while using cromepro have had to do with teh car itself. nothing to do with the software. its quick its easy to understand and it works like its supposed to.

Maybe you just suck with computers Never gotten a corrupt bin, never had a fucked up Crome bin, never had 'null value' errors, never had a problem with GET/PUT, never had the bins change themselves. Just think about it, it's one guy who's coded the whole frickin' interface, it runs better than Windows and has less bugs You're complaining it's not bug free? Get over it, it's free!

I'm using Crome free and used Uber before that... I heart Crome now. Shortcut keys for EVERYTHING, it's awesome!! I can navigate the whole way around the app without having to touch the mouse more than once every 5 minutes. And everyone that now runs Crome seems to say the same thing: Crome runs smoother, oddly enough.

To the original poster, before you go Crome Pro, try just using Crome Free, then decide if the extra features are worth the $150 to you. You can totally get the job done with Crome's free version. Take it as a trial version. I you find you're making a lot of changes and the extra features seem appealing, you're supporting a good cause.

I'm glad I got my Ostrich before they went backordered, haha
