Default TurboXS boost controller

I see from several other posts that the majority of the people here are using the Profec B or the Avc-R. Is anyone using a Turbo XS manual boost controller? I'm thinking of getting the TurboXS HP dual controller... is there any downside to using this other than the initial boost dial in?

DO NOT GET THE XS. Not that it's a bad unit, it's just that you can make a custom one for WAY less.

$hit. I wish I had my links.

A place called "dawes device"(I think that's right) sells a solenoid, and boost controllers, to make a dual controller. Just search for the name. If you can't find it, I will post the link when i get home.

But the total cost of the controler is around 60 bucks.

I have the regular Turbo XS manual boost controller and I can say it's worth it. I do have a bit of a boost spike under hard acceleration but by only about (.5 to 1 psi). But it holds constant boost after that. I figured that's what you expect from all MBC. Got mine pretty cheap and I didn't want to fiddle with making one. I would recommend their products.

The places I see selling the TurboXS mbcs are a bit shady... they have them right next to the "generation 14 hyper super euro carbon look Sir-T type gtR altezzas". If you're gonna go mbc, I don't see a need to spend the $$ to go w/ a "name brand" b/c it seems they're all just as dependable or undependable (however you see it). If you don't mind some spiking. Course thats just my opinion so don't take it as anything more.

Why don't you ask the guys that blew up their engines running some piece of junk that was put together from $1 worth of parts at the hardware store. Not that everybody has problems with them, but why risk it? If you don't want to spend the money on an electronic (or don't have the money to blow, like me) get the TurboXS High Perf manual boost controller. Lots of people use them, not just Honda guys, and love them. I know I love mine! Holds the boost rock solid every time and allows perfect adjustment. Basically one turn of the coarse adjustment screw gives you 1 PSI of boost. I just cranked mine up from 4.8 to 7.2 PSI this weekend. Muuuuuch better

Oh yeah, if you don't mind the spiking? Dude, what happens when you're running 8 PSI and it spikes to 16...doh! Well, at least you saved 50 bucks on your boost controller that you can use for the $1000+ engine rebuild you'll need

Look at falconGSR's post, and mine even.

It's http://www.Dawesdevices.com

It's not 9 bucks, but 35 isn't bad for a simple device that will work.

Thanks for all the replys. I am really interested in the TurboXS HP DUAL (not the single base one). I was/am concerned about boost spikes and would rather spend the extra money for an electronic if that's the case, but it sounds like a lot of people have had good experience with this piece and by the sounds of it it holds boost pretty solid with no spiking.

Those that have used the TurboXS.... have you noticed if your turbo really spools up a little quicker?
