it varies not all motors are the same. i would start at 5200 and work your way up. test each one a few times and when you feel that the crossover is smoother than before then that would be a good starting point.

Hopefully you are doing this on a Chipped p28 or some sort of standalone hack..

cause if ur doing this on a VAFC then it wont help a whole lot since you are altering the Vtec point set from the factory.. When you raise or lower the VTec you are not getting the full potential because you are still running on the stock ignition maps for those RPM's so to get the max out of the setup i would highly suggest some tuning
