VTEC Crossover Point
I'm thinking of getting my ecu chipped, and was wondering what RPM is the best for the VTEC crossover point? Is is better if it engages at 4800 or should it be higher?
On the topic of Vtec crossover. Is 5700 RPMs too high? Im have a mugen chiped p28 on LS/Vtec, the max rpm I plan on is 8000, so would it be better if the vtec crossover was lower?
i think 5700rpm is about right. you don't want it too low because imo it needs time to wind up... i have experimented with this before when i had a B18C1 civic coupe and a Field's vtec controller...
For the smoothest transition with ITR/CTR/Toda specA cams a 5300 RPM VTEC switchover point is ideal. That is what I set my P28 program VTEC switchover at.
I have done a few hundred dyno runs with the aforementioned cams and this is the trend that I have seen.
