Okay:
Check the engine code, it's on the block on the lower passenger side of the block. Near the tranny housing. Does it read:
D16Z6
If so, then it's the stock motor and it DOES have VTEC regardless if the valvecover says so or not.
1992-1993 VTEC Civics DON'T say "VTEC" on the motor, but they are. 1994-1995 Civics say "VTEC" on the valvecover, but it's still the same motor as the 1992-1993.
From 1996-up all the SOHC VTEC Civics still did NOT say "VTEC" on the motor, but they indeed are VTEC.
