i bought a 93 del sol that has a d15b, i didn't find out until tonight that that motor has VTEC and 130hp, not to long ago i looked into what motors came in my car and my model shoud have a d15b7 102hp, so i always thought thats what i had and today i noticed that it has on the engine block just d15b but im pretty sure my car dosn't have vtec and the motor hits rev limiter at 6700, is there any way that i have a non vtec head on my b15b block? or does it need a vtec selenoid? Im going to pull the valve cover off when i get time and check for vtec, but im pretty sure i dont got it please any knowledge would help

You know what the only way to check is for the VTEC solonoid!!!!! If it has it then It is VTEC if not it aint !!! I have the same motor as we speak in my 93 Honda Civic LX!!! It says D15b but No VTEC!! There Are To Versions!!! You can Convert it to VTEC If you Like!!! Me I just bought a Whole other moter JDMD15B VTEC Whoch im About to SWAP!!!

well im gonna check by looking at the cam and if it has the extra vtec lobes then ill know but im pretty sure it dosnt have it, i didn't know that there was a d15b without vtec, whats the difference on it than a d15b7?

D15B Is A JDM Motor As In JAPAN!!! A D15b7 is from right here great ol "USA" LOL!!!

Why dont you try to do a mini me swap !!! Just Place A d16z6 head on it since you already have a D15B block!!!!!

Oh yeah and by the way all you to chek for is VTEC SOLONOID OUTSICE OF HEAD CLOSE VALVE INTAKE HOSE NO NEED TO CHECK ANYTHING ELSE NO SOLONOID NO WAY OF VTEC ENGAgING

well i look for a selenoid even though i dont know what it look like, my dads got h22 so ill look for it on there to see what is look like, oh yeah how much is cost for a z6 head and how hard to find just head alone? because i was looking into either getting a z6 engine and keeping my stock 5spd or getting a b series but i dont want to save 2 grand to get one

alright thanks for the help mortification, im definitely going to look into those heads because my motor dosent have many miles and no leaks and i killed my friends automatic z6 civic, yeah i know it was an auto matic but still 102hp vs 126.

I live about as far south in mississippi as you can get. i just found the selenoid on my dads vtec and i defintely dont got one, the only thing next to my "dizzy" is two wiring harnesses i just wish the idiots who had the car before me would have had enough sense to get a z6 motor since they had to get another engine anyway why not spend about a 100 more for 20+hp

yeah my friend swapped out his sisters d15 for a z6 motor and kept same tranny and wired everything up but of course he didn't have vtec and he told his neighbor who ended up knowing honda everything and wired the vtec to his stock ecu!!! i have no idea how so if i get those heads ill definitely see him

aight thanks on that i will definitely do my reading up first and talk to some people. i just dont wanna del slow anymore lol, well i gotta go pick up my girlfriend and drive my 102 hp beast ha ha jk. latr

It Depends!!! They Are pretty Easy To find and there is a thread here on how to do a mini me swap!!! Its very informative my swap is sort based the same Way!!!!! If your going to save save for a b18 not a b16 since they say its about the same shita as a 1.6VTEC and a JDM D15B has more hP (130hp) than american 1.6!! At least thats what ive read here!! Just my .02

WELL JUST SWAP HEADS AND END OF STORY!!! I ON THE OTHER HAND MADE CALCULATIONS OF HOW MUCH I WAS GOING TO WASTE$$$$ AND FOUND A VTEC MOTOR FOR 400$ DELIVERED TO MY HOUSE!!!! KICK *** HUH!!? SO I DECIDED TO DO THAT !!!! THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE ON EBAY WHO SELL HEADS ALREADY REBUILT!!! IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH EBAY!!!!??? JUST REMEMBER YOUR GOING TO NEED ALOT OF THINGS!!!! ECU,NEWGASKETS,VTEC SOLONOID IF HEAD U PURCHASE DONT COME WITH IT AND WIRING FOR THE VTEC!!! ITS A LOT OF ****!!!
