with the vacuum advance distributor i would bet it is an 87 back civic engine OR perhaps an overseas market engine.

Uhh... thats a VTEC block off plate. where do you guys get this mechanical fuel pump from?

Im pretty sure you could pick up one of those from honda, but i would just make it out of scrape you got laying around.

Oh wait, are you talking about the black thing next to the distributor? Dont know what that is but it sure as hell isnt a fuel pump. Looks like a filter of some sort, or EGR.

The black thing next to the dizzy is a vaccum modulator sensor.

no its not a block off plate for vtec. its not even the right size.
http://www.hondaautomotivepart...+TUBE
that even shows the fuel pump on there and it attaches to teh ehad in older carb'd civics.
The black cannister is a vacuum advance for the distributor, meaning it is NOT a fuel injected engine...

wrong and wrong.

Japanese engines for base model Civics even 5th gen had mechanical fuel pumps running off the cam. When you buy the engine from the importer, they SHOULD supply you with a block off plate. Everyone I have swapped came with a block off plate which I had to install. If no, just take some sheet metal and cut if up!

Yup, swappin in a JDM D15B non vtec to simply replace the B7. This engine was originally carbuerated (sp?) so it had a mechanical fuel pump (as mentioned). Called the place I bought the swap from (kinda confused at the time) and they simply said remove the pump, block it off, and use the more modern fuel injection pieces found on my current motor.

Wish I could fab up such a piece...but I dont have the skill (or resources) to do so. So....does anyone know where I can snag one of these?

Or better yet...anyone with the proper resources feel bored enough to fab one up and help out a fellow honda restore-er? Lol!

Thanks guys, you have been great thus far!
