Default 92-95 EG weight question???????

Im looking to buy a 92-95 civic EG. Now my plans with this car is to simply gut it and build a motor for it. My question is what are the main weight differences between the models avaible. I know theres the VX, CX, DX & Si. I know the SI is the heavist coming with a sunroof, rear brakes etc etc so thats out.. My goal was to find a CX/VX cause thats the lightest but I have only found DXs. What makes the DX heavier than the CX/VX? since my goal is to gut it (remove all sound reducing elements and tar back panels, carpet etc etc) I dont think It will make a difference in the end will it? or is the actual frame heavier?

I believe the DX comes with some options that the VX/CX dont come with. Rear wiper, side moldings, maybe some more interior options. Since you're going to gut it all at the end IMO shouldnt make a difference

well if you completley gut (including PS, AC, interior parts, rear wiper...etc.) any EG the weights will come out nearly the same.

And with unlimited CF parts they can become even lighter, I've even seen some places offer CF sunroof plug kits and fuel pump covers.

What??? Side moldings... How much do you think they weigh? Ditch the auto's with the sun roof and ac and go from there. If you're like most people your going to swap engines anyways....just find a CX or DX and save on insurance too.

stay away from the Si. VX and DX are the lightest, i believe the CX has more tar in it. but that doesn't really matter. the rear discs are only 3lbs heavier than drums. ive done the swap and weighted it. if you look at the sticky links in the FAQ section.. that will help you

All the weights and options of each trim level are recorded for posterity in the stickied threads at the top of this forum. ******* noobs that don't search clutter this place so badly.

Wrong. The CX and VX weigh the same (according to Honda) and the DX is abit heavier.
I know the differences from my CX to my brothers old DX hatchback are..

Rear Wiper
Side Mouldings
Less Tar
Lighter Interior panels (no pocket door panels, no rear speakers, no dead pedal)
Lighter engine parts (cx flywheel weighs only 15 lbs)
No tilt column.

There are so many little things that I may have forgotten some.

The cx gas tank is a 9 gallon and plastic compared to a dx with a 10.something and metal. The cx has tar only in the front. My last
cx weighed 2015 and my new dx weighs 2210 but it was a auto with ps.All that is gone with a k swap now so I thing it's gonna weigh around 2000.
