B18C Crankshaft Endplay
I recently purchased a full motor swap on eBay and I had it up on my engine stand to just inspect the bottom end. I noticed that I was able to move the crank back and forth. It was surely noticeable I'd say 1/16 - 1/8 of an inch. And I know that is not good. My question is, can replacing the thrust washers fix this problem or am I looking at a whole new crank. I plan on replacing all the bearings anyway but I don't want to spend money if its trashed. Should I try getting my money back or compensation money for me having to get another crank if need be?

idk 1/16 sounds normal, all i know is mm> it should move no more than about .9-1.1mm
yes you are correct replacing the thrust washers will fix your problem. that is if you have too much end play.

My dad took a feeler gauge with the crank all the way to one side and slid it in between the bearing cap and measured it to be around .007 in. Which is within the .004 - .014 range. The service limit is .018. I'm within the spec. Even still I'm replacing everything and rebuilding the motor. Just wondering where I'm going to get them new. Or even bearings for that matter. They won't look up parts numbers for me because its not an "acura" dealership. They don't have the books. Would the B16 motor from a 2000 Civic SI work as well for part numbers? For bearings too?
Straight from the Factory Service Manual:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Crankshaft End Play
Standard (New): 0.10-0.35mm (0.04-0.014 in)
Service Limit: 0.45 mm (0.018 in)
-If end play is excessive, inspect the thrust washers and thrust surface on the crankshaft. Replace parts as necessary.</TD></TR></TABLE>
It does sound out of spec, so check out the bearings and thrust surfaces and if you notice anything out of the ordinary, contact the seller.
For part numbers, http://www.acuraparts247.com works well.
