Default Replacing Knock Sensor

What is actually involved in replacing it? I understand it's in the back of the block, but I have an SH, so would it still be in the same location?

You have to either remove the ATTS to get to it from below, or remove the intake manifold to get to it from above.

I have an H22A4 in my 4th gen, and if you take off the oil filter, I was able to reach the knock sensor....kinda tight, but it is do-able.

Gotta remove the intake manifold to get to that SOB on the SH.

Such a pain in the ***. You will most likely end up dropping a few intake mani bolts and they will just disappear into thin air. Buy a few extras from the stealership.

Make sure the wire comming from the loom to the sensor is still intact. your knock could still be good but the wire got botched.

I replaced mine in my 4th gen a while back no prob, just remove the oil filter and you can easily get to it. The atts unit blocks you from accesing it from the bottom on a 5th gen SH like stated before.

That's pretty shitty guys...removing the im.

Is there a section in the helms that shows you how to remove it? In the intake manifold replacement section, all there is, is a break down of all the parts it consists off.

btw, i'm replacing the knock sensor in hopes that it fixes my mid-range hesitation like it did for so many of you.

No there's not, and it's a bitch to remove it in the SH.
