Default went to the strip now timing is advanced to like 25 degrees??

whats up, I was at the track the other day. After the 4th run with the same exact numbers i decided to tune the cam gears a little to see if i can get any difference in times. After the adjustment the car kept wanting to die in the stage lanes so i made the run and got the same time agian (13.82-84). At the end of the track when i pushed in the clutch it staled out, got it started back up with a lot of cranks and feathering the gas pedal, so i set the cam gears back to 0int.. 0exh... Then the same thing happens i get it started but then when i do it stals out unless i hold the gas pedal. So i go home and check the timing and it is advanced to like 25 degrees. so i retard the dizzy and can only bring the timing down to like 18-20 degrees advanced. So i check the tdc marks and when the crank pulley is at tdc the cam gears are off a half of a tooth and if i set them right the crank is advanced like 10 degrees. Does anyone know what the problem is. This motor has been the same way for four years so its not a new build or nothing and the timing belt only has 6 or 700 miles on it. (car runs good when i get on it or at cruising speeds)

can i get any help from the pros. i can post pics if needed
thanks

ps: it is a lsvtec with the ls distributer (could it of went bad from the high rpm's?)

first two go together and the second two go together

crank pulley at tdc
cams gears with pulley at tdc

cams at tdc markings
pulley with cam gears set at tdc marks

haha i knew someone would ask. my motor mount busted at the track and blew all that nasty *** water thats inside them all over the place

one more thing i forgot to add was i adjusted the idle screw a little bit at the track(the screw on the tb)

Where i stand as of right now: put on a newer dizzy, took the belt off lined everything up put it back on and eveything looks good. so i started it let it warm up and it never stalled. so i check the timing and it is still way advanced but not as much and that was due to the idle being a little high so i screw the idle screw in a little and it stalls. the only way it will stay on when it is warm is if the idle screw is backed out flush with the tb. wtf this sucks anymore guesses?

eewww... sorry to hear that. was ur tensionor tight b/c i take like 10-20 minutes setting my belt up and like 5 of those minutes just on the tensioner always pull all the slack out of the front of the belt.

just some hints so it doesnt happen again

yeah the tensioner was tight and the belt was not loose. all i know at this point is that the compression in my combustion chambers are 85 115 90 100 compared to 215 214 215 215 a month ago so its only commen sense at this point that when i adjusted my cam gears i bent my valves.

its all good.

ive been wanting to pull the motor and do a full rebuild to the block and port-n-polish the head anyway

12.xx all motor here i come or low 11's turbo
