Rattle after shifter bushing install at high rpms??
I just had a new exedy clutch, es motor mount inserts and shifter bushing installed about three weeks ago. No problems til today. Under high rpm (>8k) the shifter rattles very loudly. I verified it does it in gear, in neutral, and in gear with clutch held down. You can feel the rattle in the gear shift. Any suggestions? Again only over 8k. Car has 38k miles.
Anybody else with this problem. It might not be the shifter bushings.
Thanks Josh

I had the same problem...take it to a shop..get them to tighten the busings...the rattle will go away, however your shifter will be heavier.
This usually occurs with polyurethane bushings...as they are stiffer.

same problem here after installing es shifter bushings a few months ago. haven't had the time or motivation to get back under there to give the bolts an extra twist.
I assumed that was the problem, but now some are saying this is expected of poly bushings? if so, I'll be switching back to my stock rubbers, thank you.

I had the exact same problem with ES shifter bushings, even with everything torqued correctly.
Switched to Mugen shifter bushings and the problem went away.

edit: I found out the Mugen bushings are $55 here.

How do the Mugen bushings feel compared to the stock/ES bushings? Also, with them being Mugen I can only guess how much they are...
I retorqued everything (and gave it that extra special Tweak)...
I didn't have the problem on my '96 but on the '99 we'll see how she fairs tomorrow....
I'm thinking it's time to just write all the crap off and buy a C's adjustable setup
