what does do you have to do to pass BAR
the motor has to be newer than the year of the car you have so 1996, u need a 1997 motor. It needs to have all the emission control from that car. So basically a full swap, including ECU
You can also have a motor from the same year as your car.
For aftermarket parts, they all need to be legal and with CARB EO numbers. I would go in with stock parts, just to be safe.

If you dont mind going back two times... go the first time... FAIL...
Then the ref will give you a list of EXACTLY everything you'll need to pass the next time.
Plus the retest is free.

Of course not, the referree LOVES illegal aftermarket parts
.
Yes, all of your aftermarket parts have to be Cali smog compliant, and have the correct CARB EO number.

Technically yes. But it is just way too much trouble to get it smog legal in an EG. Ie immobilizer, return fuel system, etc.

ok thanks. Whats a good swap. I have a JDM B16 right now which is Illegal. and here in socal right now cops are kraking down hard on racers. expecially if ur cars yellow.(mine) so i want a legal swap so if they pull me over for sum B.S. reason i wont be in any trouble. I was thinking a GSR swap or sumthing in that range.

Not to my knowledge because of the problems with things such as the immobilizer & fuel lines.

Just a little bit longer than a normal smog check. Mine was done both times in under an hour

No, you go to a Referee station, which is usually at a community college.

K series can't be barred unless you also swap the fuel tank and the returnless fuel line system. Not worthwhile.
B series BAR'd = all street legal add ons, no pieced turbo kits, no Ebay generics. DC header for example with carb sticker, AEM intake, USDM catalytic convertor, correct OBD ECU of the car (92-95 civic = OBD1), USDM INTAKE MANIFOLD and you should be good

you do not need a usdm IM to pass BAR I went to 2 different places and niether mentioned it. All I need to do was:
USDM ECU
Had to have all wiring redone (soldered & heatshrunk)
New cat
New o2 sensor
ran some fuel system cleaner
prayed
and i passed everything on the motor itself was the OEM JDM parts.

The ONLY difference between USDM and JDM intake manifolds is that the JDM is missing the evap purge control solenoid valve. Get that evap purge off of any obd1 civic or integra and put it on the JDM manifold... voila, USDM spec. manifold.

i passed bar with my DA(B18c) i had the jdm motor. they made me change whole bunch of crap. you can use aftermarket as long as it has a carb #. try to put a nice big cat on so it lowers emissions. try also putting stock headers. cant use jdm ecu. dont let any extra wires show. good luck
