Hitin the REF with this setup....will it pass?
The car is a 89 civic LX. The motor is a 99 USDM motor. Everything is hooked up right, but it has been converted to OBDI, i was wandering if that will be a problem on the visual. I know it wil pass the sniffer. thanx

you are correct. However if you swap over a couple parts you can tell the ref that the motor is a 94-95 gsr motor....that way you can just run obd1. I'm not familiar w/ the exact parts that need to be changed though. However there is an article about it over at hybrid-perf: http://hybrid2.honda-perf.org/tech/refstory.html

LOL... that's MY write-up from my CRX way back when Yeah, the smog ref goes off of the motor, so if he verifies with the VIN plate (if on there) or block stamp, that it's a 99 motor, then there's no way he'll pass you unless it's completely setup as OBD-2. You can try to make your motor look like an OBD-1 motor, and setup/hookup everything to OBD-1 standards under your hood and hope that the ref doesn't catch it, but it'll all depend on the ref himself and if he says something or not.
