what would be a realistic hp number for my 93 civic ex, 1.6 sohc? So far i have a 4-2-1 header, no cat, and a 2.5" apex'i n 1 exhaust system, also has msd pro modified distributor cap, 8.5 mm msd wires, blaster ss external coil, aem short ram intake, and ngk iridium spark plugs? i'm thinking the car makes about 110 - 115 hp stock right? i'm thinking with the mods probably around 140? sound about right? btw: the car has 225000 km

 

Stock it makes around 125 to the crank, about 100 to the wheels.

With what you have I'd imagine the car might be putting 120 to the wheels.

I would try to sell that MSD ****. Stock Honda ignitions are good to 700hp and MSD stuff doesn't like Hondas. The MSD needs a constant 14v to work correctly, but it only gets about 12.5-13.5 in a Honda.

I can't be 100% on that information because it's "A buddy of mine said that his buddy said this".

Basically my friend has a problem with his ignition system on his Formula car. He talked to a race friend of his and the guy told him that the MSDs need at least 14v and that his car, along with most smaller cars, only supply around 12.5-13.5v.

Voltage should be well above 12.5 if you're charging system is functioning properly.

I'd say about 115hp to the wheels if you're lucky.

 

i tested the output on my 93 civic today, and its charging a constant 14.2 volts, drops a little when you use the power wimdows etc, back to the msd topic, my whole reason for changing to that setup is because the stock internal coil is the weakest part of a civic's electrical system, with the blaster ss external coil there was a noticable difference in the spark on the car, it started easier, idles smoother, and a little bit better fuel milage too, so i think i won't sell that "msd ****" seems to work fine for me!
