how did the plug from # 2 look? any oil on it?

how does the car idle? seem normal?

could be as simple as a bad injector, could be as bad as a piston down on compression.

to rule out the injector you can swap #1 and #2 - see if the code follows the injector

to rule out a bad cylinder do a compression test

plugs lean all the same
replaced and changed wires
did the swtich around
may be random missfire and just codeing po302?
car idles a little rough
did compression test all around 160
all injectors clicking
only seems to do this in the 2500-2750 rpm range
that should be when the egr opens yes?

I'm guessing EGR ports and maybe even the valve.

Remove the fuel rail and everything attached to it and set it aside, probably don't have to fully remove it even, just unbolt all the bolts. Then remove the cover below it. Clean out your EGR ports. Also check your EGR valve itself, it may need cleaning or replacing. Be sure you have or can easily get a replacement gasket for the valve in case you can't reuse the one already on there.

Had this problem on mine, though mine seemed to do it when running at a steady 45 - 55 mph, and on rare occasions higher then that. It idled fine though, thats the only thing that makes me wonder if what yours is doing is because of something else.

Other possibility could be dirty injector(s). They'd probably still mechanically check out ok, but not be spraying correctly.

I'd check the EGR valve and ports though. If EGR ports are blocked it will cause those that are not blocked to take the extra load and misfire.

Edit: Noticed you said you cleaned the EGR, I missed that bit, though I still am not sure if you just did the valve, or the ports, or both.

I have the same problem on my 1997 ex, vtec. Did you figure if it was the EGR valve? My code is p0301 - misfire cylinder 1.

Thanks.
