vtec hits when it wants to
i just swapped a obd1 b16a into my si and now when i go past 6k it starts idling at 1500 and doesnt go into vtec. when i turn the car off and turn it back on it goes back to normal until i go past 6k again. does anyone have any ideas on what this could be?

could be the solenoid. does your oil light come on when vtec hits? an oil pressure gauge is a good indicator of the oil pressure

the oil is good. it starts to idle at 1200 and then it wont work. if it idles below 1000 than it works. im confused, it could be idleing high and not working but ill turn off the car for 15 seconds and it works again.

sounds like when after you hit vtec the solenoid stays open even after you are at idle. swap out to a different solenoid and see if it still the same problem
i swapped it out and it still does the same thing. i noticed yesterday that after it happens my air/fuel gauge doesnt work also. i replace the o2 sensor last week.
im guessing that its either Electrical or its a lack of Oilpressure.
In order to Hit vtec you must be at 130* F in water temperature.
Be Going at least 10 mph
have at least 55 psi of Oil pressure.
Check the oil pressure cause once that little red light comes on then it means that it is too late.
******* On a side note.. ditch that A/F Ratio gauge if you are using your stock o2 sensor. cause you need a wideband to get a accurate o2 signal to read to the gauge.
