my vtec works for about 5 min when i start the car and then it stops working. It gives me cel 22 and I already changed the vtec pressure switch and same problem. What would cause this to happen.

What kind of oil are you using? You might not be getting enough pressure to the solenoid.

You need to see what kindof oil pressure you're getting to the solenoid. It sounds like oil pressure.

sometimes no vtec and sometimes its breaking up. which means I should change the distributor. It gives me 2 cels 8 & 22.
you guys think it can be oil pump. I'm getting 0 pressure on idle. does not seem normal

my first thought... that can cause significant drops in oil pressure to the head. your oil pump could possibly be going bad also?

there are little dowels inside the rocker assembly. if on of them are out then low pressure, but it sounds like bearings if u have 0 oil pressure

I changed the oil pump already and checked the dowel pin. I can't figured it out unless my main bearings are shot. the motor only have 2300 since rebuilt. Everything is new in the motor.

I would install a oil pressure gauge if it says 0 then I would pull the oil pan and check your bearing clearances using plasti gauge you can get it at napa. If the oil clearances are to large you will see low to no oil pressure. If the bearing do not look trashed and you have no oil pressure then whoever built your engine fucked up on sizing the bearings. that is all folks

took main bearings off and one of them is shot. gonna change them and see what happens. hopefully that would fix the problem.
