Default Remove head or use valve spring Compressor?

Just getting ready to install some springs and retainers in my gsr wondering which way would be easier and simpler. oh ive never pulled the head off before and if i pull the head i'll be buying arp studs and headgasket. thanks

easiest way is probably to do it with the head on but you have to worry about keeping the valves in the head when swapping everything over. best way is to put each cylinder at tdc when taking it aport and fill the cylinder up with compressed air to keep the valve in place.

i already have a tool rigged up that threads into the spark hole and has a fitting for a comressor hose on the other end i can use. is it straightforward besides that?

yea its pretty much straight forward after that. just take out the keepers and swap everything over and put the keepers back in.
