Default Humming Sound From the Boom Box

Hi. I just got a used Acura 2002 RSX and it came with an after market boom box. I noticed that when driving and the radio is off there is a sound coming from the box like a "grounded" sound and its noise/sound starts from soft to becoming loud as if the box will explode but when I turn on the radio the box will sound normal. It sounded like, "hhhmmmmmmmmmmmmMMMMMMMMMM !!!!!" What could be wrong? Thanks.

check the power wire or ground. if they came out or are loose.
they will make that "hmmm" sound. if you can, sauder(sp) the wires.
that should take care of the problem. if not, check the fuses.

Does the car have the factory radio? It sounds like it to me and it could be a cheap loc. Line output converter. People often skimp on theses when the add aftermarkets sound system to stock radio's. Its job is to take a signal from the factory speaker outputs and turn them into low-level output "rca" that your amp uses for a signal. Some amps have theses allready built in. But many people don't use them. Also don't look pass some cheap rca's too. all so what kind of amp is it? Hopefully it is not some pos. Also make sure you have a clean ground. This could lean into the problem that you are having. Your biggest problem your having is that your amp is staying on with your headunit off. And the amp is doing its job of amping the sounds it hears from its inputs.

Dei. has a perfect part for this. It connects to a speaker lead, and it turns the amp on when it picks up signal from the speaker leads. It called" remote power adapter".

This way when you turn the radion off the amp goes off. Our you can just get aftermarket head unit and run the amp turn on lead and rca's straight to your amp from your new headunit. This would bethe best way, or you could find were they tapped the amp turn on wire and put a switch on it to shut the amp down when the radio is not on.

I had just bought his RSX a few days ago and it went with an aftermarket sub/boom box with the stock radio. I haven't check where they had wired the input signal for the amp and where they had grounded it. I will check the wirings where they had routed the + and ground wires and check if they had used the speaker signal to turn on the amp.
If I will replace the stock radio with an aftermarket? How will I remove the stock and if installing a new headunit/radio? How will I disable the radio theft alarm?
I will post back after I check the wirings of the sub and will try also to post pictures. Thanks a lot for the suggestions.

I started checking the wiring and the sub is powered even if the radio is off. I will continue checking the wires.
