Default New to Honda, got a question about swaps.

I'm new to this forum and to Honda's in general. I'm not looking for anything in depth at the moment, just trying to get a feel for my vehicle, and see what its limits are.

The car is a 1993 Civix DX with an automatic transmission. Very basic, no frills, less thrills.

For now, I would just like to know, if i dont want to deal with the concept of swapping in a manual transmission which i've read just isnt worth it, what would be the best swap with auto for this vehicle.

If something is possible, my goal would be 180-200hp (which i know wont come just from a swap, but looking for what will get me the closest).

So what I'd like to know again is, is there a good swap with auto for this car, and is it possible (without costing out the ***) to get the hp goal i'd like.

Thanks in advance for any info you guys give me.

How about an H22 auto from a prelude?

as long as there is a swap, thats ok with me. i know shifting wont be as "fun" or as on demand as a manual, but since i just bought it, dont really wanna get rid of it. interior is like new, exterior is close to it as well.

i just want more hp that way when i say "go", it goes. it wont get raced or abused (much).

not even worth it..you wont be making as much power as you can in a 5sp.

just convert it to 5sp

Who told you that converting to manual isn't worth it? There are thousands of people who have done it. Just do a search for "auto to manual", and I'm sure you'll find all the info you could ever want.

Mrjkwik, your profile shows that you're 30yrs old.

Maybe he's just not into the "sportiness" anymore.

HAHA, pickin on the old guy huh?

trust me, i love sportiness. if you want the "story", basically the wife has a vr6 passat, i have a ford bronco. with the gas cost, i needed something that gets better than 9 mpg. so, got this civic. its a 93, near perfect interior, pretty good exterior (some minor flaws). very basic, no pw or pl and the such. as i'm assuming most dx's are. only 104k on the motor. ect ect.

naturally, after driving a vr6, i'd like to get more "zip" into the civic. another reason i bought it was for the aftermarket support.

eventually, what i'd like to do is get it to the 180-200 whp. i figure with the power to weight, that should be more than enough for my "wants". i'd be more interested in handling than insane hp. with being "an old guy", racing others on the street doesnt interest me. but i love hitting the mountain roads and enjoying the "twisties".

so, to answer the remark, yeah, i'm older than i guess the "usual" user is, but still enjoy speed and handling of a car thats worth it. but seeing that to keep this someone budget friendly i'm sure i'll be doing much of the work myself and learning a lot.

if the swap isnt a killer, then i can go that route. but if there is an available auto swap that isnt a complete dog, i'd probably take that and focus more on the handling. maybe go for the conversion later. might sound *** backwards though.

i'll do some more searching since it looks like my 5 posts limit is almost up, but about how much would a auto-manual swap run me if i did it myself (except for any welding and such, that would have to be done by someone else). what do you think a shop would charge?

one last quesiton. would it just be better to do an engine swap with all the necessary componets and the conversion at the same time?

sorry if these are all questions asked before. thats a noob for ya but i'll do some more searchin. any other good informative sites/forums to look at?

Yea, an auto isn't worth it, expecially on a b series if you were to swap that. All the power is made up high. Maybe a gsr swap with intake, nice header, and apexi world sport exhaust
