which ECU should i use?
I plan on getting a d16y8 head and intake manifold to do a mini-me swap onto my d16a6. which setup is better: using my stock ECU, upgrading the chip to higher rev limits and advanced fuel and timing, and using a vtec controller to get VTEC running, OR, getting the d16z6 ECU (p28) and converting my wiring harness to accept that ECU?
also, which timing belt would i be using? i heard many different responses on this one, such as use the y8 tb as my first choice, my stock one would fit, or depending on which water pump im using is which tb i would use...????
would i be using the y8 spark plugs and wires?
should i get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to compensate for the VTEC, or get a d16z6 fuel pressure regulator?
any comments, advice, etc. would be helpful.
thanks

Converting to run the P28 would definitely be the BETTER way to go. Remember that if you boost fuel pressure, this will have an effect across the entire rev range. Not just in VTEC (which is the only place you want it). Only a VTEC ECU like the P28 can give you VTEC fuel maps. At least right out of the factory. Otherwise, get your stock SI ECU reprogrammed by Zdyne.
May I use this thread title to ask the same question.
What ECU should I use if buying a jdm b20b with grey plugs for an EF? PR4 or P74 or P75? Which harness will I use, and what plugs in where. TIA

if you want easy, go PR4. its obd0 so you wont have to mess around with wiring. it plugs right into your stock si harness.
for the other guy if you use a d16y8 head then im pretty sure the d16y8 timing belt will work. just get a d16y8 waterpump.
